AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS BLOG HOP - WEEK 4: BERMUDA BAY

Welcome to week 4 of the Art with Heart Team Colour Creation Blog Hop. Bermuda Bay is in the spotlight for this week.

Each week a group of Art with Heart Team members participate in a Blog Hop that is all about Colour. They will be showing you some amazing creations which highlight one of over 50 different colours available through Stampin' Up!. Last week the focus was on Basic Grey from the Neutrals Collection.

This weeks colour, Bermuda Bay, is featured in many of our amazing products including A4 and 12x12 cardstock, Brights 6x6 DSP, Markers, Classic Stampin' pads and refills, Watercolour Pencils Assortment 1, Rainbow Glimmer Paper, You are Amazing Project Kit (Retires in a week), Ice Cream Corner DSP (Retires in a week) and Snail Mail DSP (Retires in a week).

Bermuda Bay has always been one of my favourite colours and can be used for a variety of themes. It is a bright and happy colour as well as soothing to the eye. I was able to get my hands on another stamp set this week but still found myself a little limited to only a handful of products in my slowly growing stash. Another simple card was made using the stamp sets In Symmetry with the sentiment from Sweet Ice cream. The colours used for my card are Bermuda Bay, Gorgeous Grape, Crumb Cake and a Very Vanilla Insert.

Today I made a slimline card using Crumb Cake cardstock as the base. One of the flowers from the stamp set 'In Symmetry' reminds me of the sacred Indian Lotus, usually pastel in colour but sometimes shown in artforms using bright colours. Using both the Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape markers, I inked up the flower in a two-toned manner. I then stamped this image three times onto our Watercolour paper. I used our Bermuda Bay watercolour pencil to add some shading differences to each flower and then slightly blended all colours together using the water brush pens. The result was a lovely two-toned flower image.

Using the circle layering dies I cut out each flower image and layered them onto a larger circle of Bermuda Bay Cardstock. The edges of these larger circles were roughed up slightly to add a little texture. I took a wide strip of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and pierced around the edges using a toothpick and ruler (Cannot wait to get my stitched dies). This strip was layered onto the front of my card and the flower images attached using Dimensionals to pop them up a little.

I then Inked up the Happy Birthday sentiment from the stamp set Sweet Ice Cream using Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape Markers in another two toned effect and stamped directly onto the front of my card. In an attempt to soften the flower images slightly, I used a series of small basic pearls along the line of the flower. This card started with a completely different idea in my head and took quite a few turns along the way, but I am quite happy with how it turned out. Not too many fumbles this time around.

I hope you are enjoying our Blog Hop so far. If you have any questions about this project or would like to know more about the products used please feel to message me.

AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS BLOG HOP - WEEK 3: BASIC GREY

Welcome to week 3 of the Art with Heart Team Colour Creation Blog Hop. Basic Grey is in the spotlight for this week.

Each week a group of Art with Heart Team members participate in a Blog Hop that is all about Colour. They will be showing you some amazing creations which highlight one of over 50 different colours available through Stampin' Up!. Last week the focus was on Balmy Blue from the Subtles collection.

This weeks colour, Basic Grey, is featured in many of our amazing products including A4 and 12x12 cardstock, Neutrals 6x6 DSP, Markers, Classic Stampin' pads and refills, Simply Elegant 12x12 DSP, In good Taste 12x12 DSP, What a Year Memories & More Card Pack and Watercolour Pencils Assortment 1.

It has been many years since I have made a card, let alone blog about it. The nerves are still there, but that feeling of excitement will never go away. Not wanting to put too much pressure on myself I decided to create a simple card card using the colours Basic Grey, Very Vanilla, Bumble Bee, So Saffron and a splash of Pear Pizzazz.

The base of my card today is using Basic Grey cardstock upon which I added a layer of DSP, also in Basic Grey. Having minimal products meant that there was not a lot of stamping going on, but playing around with punches can be just as much fun.

Using both the Daisy Punch and the Medium Daisy Punch, my flowers were cut out using So Saffron and Bumble Bee Cardstock. No flower is complete without a couple of sprigs of greenery using the Sprig Punch and Pear Pizzazz Cardstock. The thankyou sentiment from the Sweet Icecream Stamp Set (my one and only set) was stamped in Basic Grey Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and trimmed to shape before adding it to the card front. A little bling to finish it off in the form of Champagne Rhinestones, and there you have it. A completely no fuss card which was a great start for me after not having created a card in a few years. I totally felt like a beginner again, fumbling my way around, a mistake here, and oops moment there.

Now to just start working on my photography skills *gasp*

If you have any questions about this project or would like to know more about the products used please feel to message me.
